The Local Area

Walking & Location

The site has a bridleway that runs through it which takes you down into Scalby Village, or off across the fields through the woods and further a field if your legs so wish. The Cleveland Way and Dalby Forest are not too far away either. Scalby offers 2 pubs, The Plough and Nags Head, along with a bistro Café, The Yew Tree. There is also a village shop and slightly further at Newby a local supermarket, Proudfoots.

National Park and Dark Sky Reserve

We are set within North York Moors National Park and a Dark Sky Reserve (1 of only 21 in the world.) The list is almost endless for the activities and attractions the Park offers. Not to mention just enjoying the quality from here, with the abundance of wildlife and the perfect skies for stargazing. We have even seen the Northern Lights.

Beaches

Scarborough North and South Bay both have their attractions, South Bay for the arcades, ice cream and fish and chips and a more quiet affair on North Bay. Other more secluded beaches are situated along the coast. Try a spot of crabbing in the harbour, rock pooling on the headland, or maybe head to Whitby or Sandsend for some fossil hunting.
